Good blog writing is an art, it requires attention to detail, good grammar, good punctuation, correct spelling and great content. So what is the single biggest mistake a blogger can make when writing a blog post that is supposed to be optimized for search engines?

Basically it is to sacrifice any of these requirements in order to use what they think are high paying, low competition and high inquiry keywords or keyword phrases that simply do not fit into the content of their post under the misconception that they believe this is a good website search optimization strategy.

The flaw in focusing on keywords of this type rather than content is that the search engine operators actually look for and value good content i.e. the content that flows nicely, has correct spelling, good punctuation etc.

They do not value nonsensical paragraphs that are clearly written to attract search engine attention rather than to meet the requirements of visitors to the website that have arrived there for a specific purpose, to find great content and information on their topic of choice.

You only have to think about what happens when someone arrives on your website and either cannot make sense of what you have written or, equally as important, cannot find the information they are looking for. They simply leave again and go and look for a different website or blog that does provide the information they want in a format they enjoy and in a place they can find it.

The term for what I am discussing is the bounce rate, the time a visitor spends on your website and how many pages they visit. If they only look at the first page or leave almost as soon as they arrive then you will register a high bounce rate, 100% basically says that they have not found what they came for and left immediately, a more acceptable level is 50%, but should be lower if possible, and that should be the minimum target any webmaster or blogger aspires to achieve.

Writing your blogs or websites with the objective of providing useful information that is well written and with appropriate keywords that describe the actual content of your site will result in far better search engine optimization than selecting keywords that are inappropriate or cannot be converted into sensible paragraphs of written text that can be understood and enjoyed by your visitors.

If you do your keyword research thoroughly and with this view in mind there is a high probability that you will find keywords that are high paying, low competition, with sufficient numbers of inquiries and that do fit with your content in a sensible and coherent fashion. The extra effort required to do this will ultimately reward you with the associated benefit of creating more traffic who in turn become loyal visitors that come back to revisit your site and are likely to recommend to others.

WordPress is one of the most SEO-friendly Content Management System (CMS), it will help you gain more traffic and rank better in search engines like Google, Yahoo, MSN, etc.

* Install WordPress Plugins
You can get a lot of free plugins online and they will help a lot in optimizing your blog.

* Optimize permalinks
The default permalink is not SEO-friendly and should be changed right away. For me, the most SEO-friendly would be to use /%postname%/ which will make something like this yoursitename/yourpostname . You can change your permalink by going to Settings >> Permalinks and choose custom structure and input /%postname%/ .

* Optimize page titles
Page titles are the most important in your single page and should be placed between h1 tags. Titles should be short but keyword-rich.

* Remove hyperlink of the Title of your single posts
I saw a lot of blogs that hyperlinks the title of their single posts and this is no longer needed since it will still link on the same page. You can easily edit it at Presentation and edit the single.php file.

* Validate your code
There are a lot of tools online that you can use to validate your code. By validating your code, it will help search engines to crawl your site easier. This requires knowledge in web design to fix these codes so if you can’t do it, you can hire a web developer to do it for you.

* Add Meta Keywords and Description
Always add meta keywords and description to your blogs because it will help the search engines to identify what kind of blog you have. Choose your keywords wisely (means that you choose keywords that are not so competitive but has a good search volume).

* Deep-Linking your posts
Deep-linking is where a post of yours links to another related post of yours. Choose the keywords to hyperlink wisely, choose the one that fits most to the post that you’ll be linking.

Blogging has become more and more popular because of its useful effects in online marketing, internet company sales and web site traffic, You can earn as much as six figures if you know the right strategies and techniques that make your blogs grow in quality and reputation.

The Methods

Advertising is one of the main thrusts of earning money through blogs. You can write blogs that have great relevance to certain advertisements. In the process, if online users click on some links on the given advertisement, you also get a percentage. Work with pay-per-click advertisers. They benefit in marketing through your blogs and you also get your fair share of total clicks and revenue. Write blogs that match advertisements so you can drive more potential clients.

You can write advertisements in the form of blogs and put them up for sale. Talk to company and web site owners and send them a copy of your sample blog advertisements. If they like your work you may be assigned a product or service which you can write on. You get a fixed rate for every blog or page.

Read popular blogs and collate or improve from there. You may even write an e-book covering topics that have been shown to greatly boost sales and web site traffic in the past. Focusing on topics that grab the interest of majority of online visitors will help boost your reputation thus guarantee sales. Check out products, services and advertisements and assess their potential for making big sales. Write blogs about them and advertise as needed.

Working with Companies

If you have a blogging site, you can place links to other web sites and companies. You get to earn a percentage from the total revenues. There are also programs that can help you find retailers and companies that specifically match your blog interests. You will be able to make your blogs more functional by working with companies and websites that have a network of people that you can more easily drive into visiting or buying.

Join an affiliate program. If you’re an affiliate marketer, you will be asked to use various marketing strategies in order to drive more web site traffic and boost sales. Blogs are one great way that grabs the interest of online visitors.

You also get to be involved in a wider network of people composed of affiliates, managers and potential customers. You will be able to find your niche by specifically writing blogs that cater to your target market. Most likely, majority of individuals that visit your page or site will actually buy and guarantee you commission.
